What happened
Four planes were hijacked by some members of the alleged group known as Al-Qaeda. Two planes were launched into the World Trade Center, also referred to as the Twin Towers. At 8:46 a.m one of the two planes ( Flight 11 ) crashes into the North Tower, killing all of the passengers on board and several hundreds of people inside the tower. While visiting a elementary school in Sarasota, Florida, the president, George W. Bush is notified by White House officials that Flight 11 has crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. At 9:03 a.m the second plane ( Flight 175 ) plunged into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Also killing everyone on the flight and hundreds on the tower.
Then at 9:37 a.m the third hijacked plane ( Flight 77 ) crashes into the western side of the Pentagon. This killed 59 passengers aboard the plane as well as 125 military and civilian personnel inside of the building. Another 106 people were injured by the fire the plane caused.
At 9:42 a.m the Federal Aviation Athority (FAA) calls a nationwide group stop. Any flights in or coming in or out of the United States were forced to land, every plane was grounded within approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
At 9:45 a.m the White house and U.S capitol are evacuated. Other high-profile buildings and offices, landmarks, and rumored attacks are later evacuated as well. The fourth plane (Flight 93) contained 40 passengers and plane officials, 13 of which contacted family, friends, and the police alerting them that the plane was being hijacked, 6 of them learned of the attacks to the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. At 9:57 a.m, we believe that the planes members took a vote to try and take out the hijackers.
At 9:59 a.m the South Tower collapses within 10,seocnds! The collapse kills about 600 World Trade Center workers and working aid, in and around the building.
Around 20 minutes to Washington DC flying time, Flight 93 crashed into a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. This unfortunately kills everyone on board.
10:15 a.m, the E Ring of the Pentagon collapses Luckily no one gets injured. After burning for nearly an 1 hour and 42 minutes the North Tower collapses. Unfortunately leaving around 1,400 in and around the building dead.

Public Response:
After such and unfortunate event many Americans donated money and blood to many charities. The New York Blood Center collected nearly 36,000 units of donated blood. In only 2 days the Red Cross collected approximately $3 million dollars! Many of the surrounding cities sent their own firefighters and EMT'S to help clean debris and help severely injured and dying people.
Many Americans were so angered by this tragic day that they began targeting those of Arab and Muslim decent. In 10 days time nearly 600 attacks occurred. Including the murder of a Pakistani grocer and a Sikh gas station owner. The FBI told the citizens if the U.S that these attacks would not be tolerated. But yet even with this warning the attacks continue for months.

Many different news papers covered the same information, nothing new really stuck out compared to the rest. Generally the same things what happened, how it happened, and why it happened. They also talk about how angered President George W. Bush was and how he will not tolerate such attacks on his people and country, that this means war.
